FAQ's

Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I currently accept the following forms of payment and reimbursement options:
 

HUSKY Health (Connecticut Medicaid): I accept a limited number of HUSKY clients each year (approximately 12 families annually). If you are interested in using your HUSKY benefit, please reach out as early in your pregnancy as possible, as spots fill quickly. To receive coverage through HUSKY, your OB-GYN or midwife must provide a referral for doula services.
 

United Healthcare (UHC): I am currently in-network with United Healthcare. UHC has committed to expanding doula access across all plans by 2027. As of 2026, many UHC plans offer reimbursement for doula services and childbirth education; however, coverage varies by employer and specific plan. I encourage families to contact UHC directly to verify their benefits.
 

Carrot Fertility:  I am a Carrot Preferred Doula and can work with families utilizing Carrot benefits.
 

HSA/FSA:  Doula services may be paid for using HSA or FSA funds when permitted by your plan. Depending on your insurance, services may also count toward your deductible.

Where do prenatal and postpartum visits take place?
For private-pay clients, visits can be conducted:

  • In your home

  • In my office

  • Virtually

Some insurance plans have specific requirements regarding visit location, frequency, or scheduling. If you plan to use insurance benefits, we will review those requirements together.

How early should I hire a doula?
 

The average client hires me between 6–9 weeks of pregnancy. While I occasionally have availability later in pregnancy, my calendar often fills months in advance. I understand that early pregnancy can come with uncertainty. In the event of a first-trimester or early second-trimester pregnancy loss, I will refund any retainer amounts paid.

If you're considering doula support, I encourage you to reach out early to ensure availability and allow us plenty of time to build our relationship before your baby's birth.

Do you support all types of births?
Yes. I support families of all backgrounds, identities, family structures, and birth goals.

I provide support for:

  • Hospital births

  • Birth center births

  • Planned home births with CPM's

  • Inductions

  • Epidural births

  • Unmedicated births

  • Planned cesareans

  • VBACs and repeat VBACs

​

The only type of birth I do not attend is a planned free birth.

​

What happens if you're attending another birth when I go into labor?​
​

In the rare event that I am attending another birth when you need support, a qualified backup doula will be provided.

​

As the owner of Birth Tribe Collaborative, I have access to a large network of experienced doulas and will carefully select the backup doula I believe is the best fit for your family and circumstances. Backup doulas are used very infrequently. In 14 years of practice, I have utilized a backup doula only 13 times.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes.

​

For eligible services, Klarna financing may be available.

​

Families who hire me before 15 weeks of pregnancy may also choose to divide their balance into six monthly payments.
